WLED and Control
WLED gives you direct control over your lighting, allowing you to change animations, colours, palettes and saved presets.
Once you have opened the WLED interface, you will see the main lighting controls.
Connect to Wi-Fi
Each Finger Buugeng automatically transmits is own Wifi Access Point. By default these are "Finger_Buugeng 1" and "Finger_Buugeng 2”. To change settings and effects on your Finger Buugeng you can connect to each devices Wifi network.
1. Turn on the device
Slide the switch up and give the Finger Buugeng a moment to start. It will power on and load Preset 1 - Fire.
2. Join the Finger Buugeng network
On your phone or computer, open the Wi-Fi list and look for Finger_Buugeng 1 or Finger_Buugeng 2. Choose the device you would like to edit and enter
The Default Password: 123456789.
3. Open WLED
You can use the integrated WLED interface, or open 4.3.2.1 in a browser. If your phone or computer asks whether you want to use the network “as-is”, accept it. That lets your browser talk directly to the Finger Buugeng.
4. Take your time with settings
Only change advanced settings if you’re comfortable with what each setting does.
A Wi-Fi or advanced-settings change can make the Finger Buugeng behave unexpectedly if entered incorrectly. If that happens, don’t panic. First revert any changes made and see if that helps. If it is still not working correctly , Use the separate Firmware Re-flashing Guide.
Step 1 : Changing an Effect
An effect determines how the LEDs animate or behave. It controls the movement, pattern and visual style of the lighting — for example, whether the LEDs remain static, pulse, chase, fade, sparkle or move across the prop. You can then combine an effect with different colours or palettes to create a wide range of looks.
1 .Open the Effects tab.
2. Scroll through the available effects or use the search bar.
3. Tap an effect to select it.
4. The effect will immediately be applied to the LEDs.
Below the effect list you may see additional controls such as:
Speed — Changes how quickly the animation moves.
Intensity — Changes the behaviour or intensity of the effect.
Some effects have additional controls depending on how that particular effect works.
Experiment with these controls until you find the look you want.
Step 2 : Changing a Palette
A palette is a collection of colours that an effect uses.
This allows you to keep the same animation while completely changing its colour scheme.
1. Open the Colors tab.
2. Find the Palettes section.
3. Scroll through the available palettes.
4. Tap a palette to apply it.
For example, you could select an animated effect and then try several different palettes without changing the effect itself.
Some effects use palettes more extensively than others, so the result will depend on the effect currently selected.
Step 3 : Overwriting a Preset
Presets store combinations of effects, colours, palettes and other lighting settings.
If you have customised an existing preset and want to save your changes follow the steps below :
1. Customise your effect and Palette.
2 . Chose a preset you wish to overwrite by selecting the drop down arrow (Do not click on the preset itself) .
3. Enable Overwrite with state.
4. Uncheck ‘Include Brightness’ (Optional but recommended)
5. Rename the preset. Using a simple numbering system — 1, 2, 3, etc. — helps keep your presets organised and easy to identify.
6. Uncheck ‘Apply at Boot’ (Optional but recommended)
7. Click Save. The preset is now saved and can be re-called by clicking on its name.
Important
Do not select the original preset again after making your changes and before overwriting.
Selecting the preset again will reload its previously saved settings and your unsaved changes will be lost.
Instead:
Load Preset → Make Changes → Edit Preset → Overwrite with State → Save
Brightness
When editing a preset, you may also see Include Brightness.
If enabled, the current brightness level will be stored with the preset.
If disabled, loading the preset will change the lighting effect while keeping the current brightness level to unchanged.
It is recommended to leave Include Brightness UN-CHECKED and use the controllers button brightness controls instead.
Adding More Effect Presets
You can add additional effect presets, but you will also need to update the preset cycling macros so that the new presets are included when using the physical device buttons.
1. Add a New Preset
2. Enter a preset name
3. Un-Check ‘Include Brightness’
4. Note the Preset ID. In this case : ID 12
5. Click Save
6. Update The Preset Cycling Button Macros
The two Default macros that control preset cycling are:
96. Preset Forwards
97. Preset Back
By default, these use the following macro:
P1=1&P2=11&PL=~
In this macro:
P1=1 means the first preset in the cycle is Preset 1.
P2=11 means the last preset in the cycle is Preset 11.
If you create a new effect preset, for example Preset 12, you must change:
P2=11
to:
P2=12
The updated macro would therefore be:
P1=1&P2=12&PL=~
Make this change in both 96. Preset Forwards and 97. Preset Back.
Important
Whenever you add another effect preset, update the P2 number to match the highest preset number you want included.
For example:
11 presets → P2=11
12 presets → P2=12
15 presets → P2=15
If you do not update these macros, any new presets above the current P2 number will be skipped when cycling through presets using the buttons.
Copying Presets Between Devices
Preset changes are only saved to the device you are currently connected to.
This means that each device can have its own completely different set of effects and presets.
If you want to use the same presets on multiple devices, there are two ways to do this:
Option 1 — Set Them Up Manually
Connect to the second device and recreate the same presets manually.
This is useful if you only want to copy a small number of presets or if you want each device to be slightly different.
Option 2 — Preset Backup & Restore
For a quicker way to copy all of your presets:
1. Connect to the device that already contains your customised presets.
2. Use the Preset Backup function to save a copy of the presets.
Settings > Security and Updates > Backup and Restore > Backup Presets
3. Connect to the new device.
4. Use the Preset Restore function to load the saved presets onto that device.
Settings > Security and Updates > Backup and Restore > Restore Presets
This will allow you to transfer your preset configuration between devices without recreating each preset individually.
Backing Up and Restoring presets this way is also a good way to quickly load pre-saved shows that can be switched on demand.
Preset backups can be renamed.
Recommended
Preset backup and restore should be carried out using a computer and web browser.
This makes it easier to download, locate and restore the preset backup file.
Default Configuration and Preset Files can be downloaded here :
These can be used to restore the Factory Settings to your device.
Advanced Settings & Customisation
WLED provides many additional settings and customisation options beyond those covered in this basic guide.
For more information about WLED effects, settings and advanced features, visit the official WLED Wiki:
There are also many useful WLED tutorials available on YouTube covering effects, custom palettes, presets, segments and more advanced configuration.
Accessing Advanced Settings
Advanced settings on your device are PIN protected by default.
To access and edit these settings, use:
PIN: 1234
Only change advanced settings if you understand what the setting controls.
Incorrect configuration can cause the device to behave unexpectedly and, in some cases, may cause WLED to stop responding or become unreachable.
If you experience problems immediately after changing an advanced setting:
Return to the setting you changed.
Restore it to its previous value.
Save the settings and test the device again.
It is a good idea to make a note or take a screenshot of the original settings before making changes, particularly when changing LED, Wi-Fi, GPIO, Sync or hardware configuration.
